Dominion High School Reviews

There are good things and bad things about this school. The staff as a whole is average - some of them are outstanding, and some of them are definitely not. The administration is not particulary good. Though I have to give the principal credit for providing a safe envioronment for learning, he can often be condescending and far too involved. An overwhelming majority of students have had him show up announced on their doorstep at least once. It's good for a principal to be involved, but he takes things too far! It is true that the administration can be poor at returning emails or answering questions. They and the guidance office are known for runarounds. The school sometimes makes me think that we are only there to be brainwashed, as well as pushed to make the school look better. The one bright spot are some outstanding teachers and strong academics.

School has horrible teachers and administrative staff are highly inexperienced, sustandard even at a state level.

As a former student I have to disagree with the former review. I have experienced first hand the atmosphere that Dominion provides and it is all but encouraging. Before dropping out and completing high school elsewhere I had to deal with segregated homerooms and an administration that imposed its political views on the students. Over all, shotty preformance and an apathetic administration that puts the schools reputation above styudents' needs.

the principal at Dominion is exceptional. There is so much positive activity going on in that school you can feel the energy when you walk in the door. How anyone could assess this principal and most of his fine staff at anything less than a five is beyond me.

The principal has made a tremendous effort to interact with students, however because of his very conservative nature and philosophy I think he lacks the ability to relate with most of the kids in this modern age. While he strives to create a school with academic excellence he lacks the teachers to accomplish that goal. In the process he has forgotten about the importance of a quality athletic program in creating school spirit and with it student unity.

My brother and I went to DHS last year I was a freshman and My brother was a sophomore we both disliked the school ...The teachers worked with us if they felt like it.Although the Teachers and Principals weren't good the after school activities and the breakfast club were great!

Dominion is a new school with excellent facilities and a lot going for it. Unfortunately my experience with the administration has been one of frustration and very poor communication. Everything is skewed to be very positive and gung-ho in terms of the good start and high test scores. If you are attempting to deal with a problem however the attitude comes across very clearly that the school knows better than the parents what is best for a student. In attempting to deal with the principal, vice principal and teachers there I have experienced a multitude of unreturned e-mails, unanswered questions and a very condescending attitude communicated throughout.

This school has one of the most outstanding enviornments for learning. There is a strong sense of accountability and high academic success. The fine arts programs excel as it has a fine choral, band, art, and theatre program. I would highly recommend this school for any student in need of a safe place to learn with a high level of challenge and opportunity.
