The Boyd School Reviews

Well to be fair,tTthe problem is from the upper management...the school tho has great and hard working teachers. It's a montessori so it's different than a traditional system. My son has been there for two years and has learned a lot. Everybody is nice and professional, and report cards are very detailed.

The Herndon campus has immense teacher and management turnover. Good teachers last a year and then leave because they are ineffective due to high ratios. Kids are left to themselves and you see a lot of quarelling (empty mind = devils workshop). Academics in preschool/kindergarten is as good as absent. Teacher was unaware of my child's progress or lack thereof - he was reading chapter books thanks to mom and teacher did not know it. Therefore, report cards are very generic. Where is the higher than normal fees going?

I have two children at the Westfields campus, one in lower elementary and the other in primary. I have been very happy with the academics at this school and am really surprised to see such negative reviews posted here. Most of the parents that I speak with are quite happy with their child's experience there. It is untrue that parents are not allowed in classrooms. They are welcome anytime, and in lower elementary, there is a sign up sheet for monthly parent teacher conferences. One reviewer mentioned that their child just drew all day in a lower elementary class because he/she couldn't write. My first grade child writes research reports on topics of his choice in cursive, presents them to the class, does science experiments, and works on multiplication and long division. The other first graders do similar work.

The boyd school, Westfields campus (the one my son attended) is extremely inconsistent in its teaching methods. We had a great experience in primary but in lower el, my son spent the day drawing pictures and writing (he couldn't write at the time). In addition, the owner is indifferent to parental concerns (I wrote a letter and rec'd no response). The programs that are advertised are not up to par. In fact, the music program was not replaced with a new teacher when she left last year. Boyd continues to increase its tuition. I do not recommend the school as the owner is the heart of the school and it appears as if she is not interested in the concerns of parents.

There is a lot of politics in this school. High teacher/management turnover ratio. For the past 3 years this school had 3 different directors. Also there is no music or spanish teacher in over a year. I would not recommend this school to anyone.

This school is terrible, the director and the chairman of this school is very unpleasant to deal with. They just let the children play by themselves, there is no order in class. They keep losing their best teachers.

My child's experience at The Boyd School has been very disappointing. Over the past year, it seems to me that the management's vision changed from providing quality educating and training staff to safeguard children to withdrawing fees for nothing. The school is not able to provide true Montessori education due to lack of teachers' skills. Students were not provided Spanish lessons due to unavailability of teachers. Staff is unqualified as the management team.

The Boyd School is an extremely poorly run school. Management is indifferent to parents concerns or issues. They are completely unresponsive.

Attending the Boyd school has been a horrible experience. Management is completely out of touch wih the parents, they have a careless atttitude. Parents are not allowed to enter the school during classtime. Parents only have two 15 minute conferences during the year to discuss their child's progress. I am shocked and appalled at this schools behavior.

- Classes are a mixed bag ranging from extreme discipline to just right. Policy, methodology and approach are inconsistently applied. - Teacher's appear to be overwhelmed by too many kids (poor ratio?). - Management appears closed to parent's concerns - play offensive/defensive with no follow up.
